“X-Men: Days Of Future Past” has snuck its way into U.S. cinemas where it pulled in $8.1 million for its Thursday night previews ahead of the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.
That amount is behind the likes of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” ($8.7M), “Godzilla” ($9.3M) and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” ($10.2M), but there’s a catch – all of those films began at 8pm, whereas ‘Days’ did not begin its previews until 10pm.
The new “X-Men” remains on track for at least $100 million domestically over the four day period with some estimating the total to be as high $125 million. That’s in part thanks to reviews indicating the film is easily the best of the franchise (and of the Summer thus far) and the movie scoring aggregate critical numbers on par with “Marvel’s The Avengers”.
‘Days’ is also simultaneously set to bow overseas in one hundred countries this weekend.
