20th Century Fox is set to release “X-Men: Days of Future Past – The Rogue Cut” next summer on home video platforms.
Writer and producer Simon Kinberg made the announcement today at Stage 21, where scenes from “X-Men: First Class” were filmed and where Kinberg was doing promotion for the DVD/Blu-ray release of the theatrical cut of ‘Future Past’.
This extended version of this past Summer’s blockbuster features more than ten minutes of extra footage which will be added back into the film. The new scenes aren’t just a previously talked about major sequence involving Anna Paquin’s Rogue character either, but some sequences involving other characters as well.
Of the key excised sequence, Kinberg says: “It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie. We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film – behind the camera, and in front of it… Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.”
The release is expected to take place in the first half of 2015, likely during the early Summer.
