Dawn Opening Is 170M US, 424M Global

The Easter weekend estimates are in and Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” took in $170.1 million at the domestic box office, and a further $254 million overseas – bringing it to a worldwide total of $424.1 million so far.

That domestic opening broke several records including the best pre-summer opening weekend of all-time, the best Easter weekend, the best March opening, the biggest DC Comics film, the biggest domestic opener for Warner Bros. Pictures, and the sixth biggest opening of all time.

The international opening also broke records – the biggest superhero opening weekend of all time, the all-time biggest March opening, Warners’ biggest opening of all-time in China, Warners’ second-biggest international opening of all time behind “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” and the fourth-biggest global debut in history.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is now in cinemas.
