Audiences didn’t care much for critical opinion on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” with the film opening to a huge $27.7 million from Thursday previews.
That’s the highest Thursday preshow for Easter weekend and almost double that of “Furious 7” last year with $15.8 million. $3.6 million of the total came from IMAX cinemas which had their largest Easter preshow ever.
It’s just ahead of the $27.6 million which “Avengers: Age of Ultron” scored in Thursday previews last year, but can’t come close to current record holder “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with $57 million.
The film’s overseas total for the first two days in release is $44 million.
