Ahead of tickets going on sale next week, the first studio box-office predictions for Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” are in and the results aren’t exactly conclusive.
Deadline reports that current projections from both rival studios and tracking executives have the movie pegged at an opening of anywhere from $100-140 million. Actual early tracking figures won’t debut until next Thursday.
At present, the March opening record is held by “The Hunger Games” with $152.5 million followed by Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” with $116.1 million. “Furious 7” opened on that Easter weekend last year to the tune of $147.2 million.
Social media monitoring companies have also revealed that since the news of an R-rated cut of the film is coming to disc, conversation about the film has spiked with 95% of the talk positive about the stronger rating.
