Following the announcement of the main cast for David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” at DC and Warner Bros. Pictures, a report quickly emerged that three high profile actresses were under consideration for the role of Amanda Waller.
Today, Latino Review reports that the list has been narrowed down to one with “The Help” and “How To Get Away with Murder” star Viola Davis having apparently scored the gig, beating out both Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer for the coveted role.
Davis will play Waller, a prison warden and government agent placed in charge of the titular squad, a semi-secret covert group of former super villains who work for the government in return for their freedom.
Davis is expected to work around her TV schedule to film her role. If the report is accurate, she joins a cast that includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.
