Though rumoured and later denied to be a potential directing candidate for “The Hobbit”, British helmer David Yates (“Harry Potter” 5-7) has emerged again this week as a potential director. This time he’s being linked to the graphic novel adaptation “Fables” according to Pajiba.
Bill Willingham’s comic series poses the premise that characters we know from various fables and stories have fled their various realms and now live in relative secrecy in a community dubbed Fabletown in New York City.
The project is apparently a priority over at Warner Brothers but there’s no writer on board as yet. A TV mini-series based on the property was in the works for ABC awhile back but nothing seems to have progressed on it in quite some time. Gregory Noveck (“Jonah Hex”) will produce the film.
