Former “Doctor Who” star David Tennant has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series “A.K.A. Jessica Jones” according to a press release from the streaming giant.
The release indicates Tennant will play a character named Kilgrave, better known as the super villain Zebediah Kilgrave (aka. Purple Man). In the comics, he was a former Yugoslavian spy exposed to a chemical that turned him purple. It also gave him the ability to force his will onto other people.
The release describes him as “An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past. Kilgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world.”
Show runner Melissa Rosenberg says: “I’m so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character. He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain.”
Tennant joins Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage in the show, which will premiere its thirteen episode first season towards the end of this year.
