David Slade To Direct NBC’s “Crossbones”

Filmmaker David Slade has signed on to direct the first episode of NBC’s straight-to-series pirate drama “Crossbones”.

“Luther” creator Neil Cross and famed film producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are behind the show which is set in 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence where Blackbeard (John Malkovich) reigns over a rogue nation of scum and villainy.

Cross wrote the script and is executive producing with Parkes, MacDonald and Ted Gold. Slade’s work on NBC’s “Hannibal” set the tone and look for much of that series.
