David Nutter Helms “Eastwick” Pilot

David Nutter has signed on to direct and executive produce the pilot of “Eastwick,” Warner Bros. TV’s adaptation of 1987 fantasy/black comedy “The Witches of Eastwick” for ABC says Variety.

The George Miller-directed original dealt with three women (Cher, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfieffer) who discover they have supernatural powers after a mysterious man (Jack Nicholson) arrives in their small town.

“She has come up with an amazing starting-off point — I can really see where the series is going to go. She’s got a great bedrock of characters and a great mystery” says Nutter of writer/executive producer Maggie Friedman’s plans for the show.

Nutter has helmed fourteen pilots in the past, all of which have earned series pickups. The list includes “Supernatural,” “Smallville,” “The Mentalist,” “Without a Trace,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Roswell,” “Traveler” and “Dark Angel.”
