“Starred Up” and “Hell or High Water” director David Mackenzie has been set to direct USA Network’s drama pilot “Damnation” which he will also executive produce.
Tony Lost (“Longmire”) created the epic saga about the secret history of the 1930s American heartland. The story follows Seth Davenport, a man masquerading as a small-town Iowa preacher in the hope of starting a full-blown insurrection against the status quo.
Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker named Creeley Turner to stop the uprising by any means necessary. Both these men already share a secret bloody past.
Neither Davenport or Turner have yet been cast. James Mangold, Guymon Casady and Daniel Rappaport will also executive produce.
Mackenzie recently revealed a lack of interest in superhero films, telling The Guardian this week: “I can’t f****** bear superheroes, so I won’t be doing one of those. I look forward to the day when the general public get tired of these things – I’ve been tired of them for a long time.”
