“Boston Legal” creator David E. Kelley is reportedly planning a TV series adaptation of Stephen King’s 2014 novel “Mr. Mercedes”.
The hard-boiled detective tale, the first of a proposed trilogy (with the second due in May) deals with a psychotic killer committing mass murder by driving his titular car into a crowd. A recently retired cop soon makes it his mission to track the man down.
In a statement, Kelly says: “This is an amazing opportunity to adapt a script from material penned by one of the world’s most acclaimed and accomplished authors. Mr. Mercedes is a great story that will translate beautifully to the screen if I don’t mess it up.”
Frequent “Lost” director Jack Bender is also involved in the series.
