David Bowers To Helm Hybrid “Rugrats” Movie

Paramount Plans New Rugrats Series Film

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid” film trilogy director David Bowers has been set to helm the live-action/CG hybrid feature adaptation of the “Rugrats” animated franchise for Paramount Players.

The popular Nicktoon show ran from 1991 and into the 2000s and followed a group of toddlers, led by a one-year-old named Tommy Pickles, who have the most amazing adventures… at least in their minds.

David Goodman wrote the script for the new incarnation which uses CG animated babies. Karen Rosenfelt will produce the film which is targeting a January 29th 2021 release and follows on from a trilogy of animated films released from 1998 to 2003.

Bowers previously co-directed animated features “Flushed Away” and “Astro Boy”.
