“Guardians of the Galaxy” star Dave Bautista is in negotiations to join the cast of the big-screen reimagining of classic 1970s TV series “Fantasy Island” at Sony and Blumhouse.
The story centers on a group of contest winners who arrive at an island hotel to live out their greatest fantasies, only to find themselves trapped in nightmare scenarios. The new film is said to have a tone described as “Westworld” meets “Cabin in the Woods”
Michael Pena is set to star as the island’s host Mister Roarke. Bautista will play a former guest who is still on the island against his will and wants to expose Roarke.
Jimmy O. Yang (“Crazy Rich Asians”) also stars. Jeff Wadlow (“Truth or Dare”) is attached to direct from a script he is writing with Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs.
