Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures have shifted around their release date schedule.
First up the action-thriller “Spectral” will now launch on August 12th 2016. Nic Mathieu’s film deals with a group of special ops soldiers tasked with destroying supernatural forces before they take over New York City. James Badge Dale, Emily Mortimer, Bruce Greenwood and Max Martini star.
Meanwhile, Michael Dougherty’s “Krampus” is now scheduled for November 25th 2015. The story is based on an ancient Pagan demon who goes out searching for naughty children to punish during the Christmas holiday.
Open Road Films has all changed up its release schedule with the Jake Gyllenhaal-led “Nightcrawler” being delayed two weeks from October 17th to October 31st this year. That film deals with the dark underworld of freelance crime journalism in Los Angeles.
Finally, Jon Favreau’s food-truck comedy “Chef” is making a comeback in cinemas. The film is slated to get a re-release in theaters nationwide over the Labor Day holiday following a nearly $30 million haul back during its platform release in May. The move is part of a major awards push, members of the film industry guilds and organizations will be able to see the film during the re-release for free.
