Filming has resumed on the Moscow-set 3D alien invasion story “The Darkest Hour” for New Regency and Summit Entertainment reports Variety.
Filming began mid-July but was halted early last month due to heavy smog from forest fires around the Russian capital making filming there impossible. At the time the studio issued a statement saying “filming was put on hold to allow conditions to stabilize before resuming production, which features extensive exterior shooting of the famous capital city.”
Now, production has begun again on the Chris Gorak-directed feature which stars Olivia Thirlby and Emile Hirsch amongst others in the tale of five young Americans who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.
Tom Jacobson and Timur Bekmambetov are producing.
