Reviews for the just released second season of Marvel and Netflix’s “Daredevil” have run softer than for the first season, clocking in at 68/100 on Metacritic as compared to a 75/100 for the first and an 81/100 for the first season of “Jessica Jones”.
While reviews have criticised the writing this season, one thing that has been praised as unanimously as the first has been the fight scenes. The most famous of the first season was undoubtedly the single take hallway fight in the second episode – a clever blend of timing, choreography and naturalism in which the hero got puffed and actually took hits.
The fights this year are more comic book in style, Daredevil’s stamina and healing abilities seemingly more superhuman aside from a tendency for nose bleeds. Yet they are also more elaborate, and again there’s one obvious standout – the end of the third episode in which a fight with a bunch of goons in a stairwell includes some pretty amazing action.
