Director Frank Darabont has dropped out of the sequel to the 2012 fantasy adventure “Snow White and the Huntsman” at Universal Pictures.
Darabont began circling the project back in June and he and the studio have reportedly separated on amicable terms, citing ‘creative differences’ as the reason for the split.
The story is a prequel that will focus primarily on Chris Hemsworth’s title character, though Charlize Theron is expected to return as the evil Ravenna. Emily Blunt has been in talks for several weeks to join the project, though her deal isn’t closed as yet.
Despite Darabont’s exit, Universal says they plan to stay on track with the film and are sticking to their April 22nd 2016 release date.
