“Mortal Kombat” franchise co-creator Ed Boon recently sat down with IGN to talk the long running game franchise – its past and its future.
In a surprising reveal though, Boon confirmed that at one time “Lethal Weapon” co-star Danny Glover was three favourites to play the role of the thunder god Raiden in the original 1995 “Mortal Kombat” film for New Line Cinema.
Boon said it was just one of many ‘wild suggestions’ New Line made to him over the course of the film’s development process. Christopher Lambert ultimately took on the role in the film which made over $120 million from a sub-$20 million budget.
James Wan is set to produce a new “Mortal Kombat” movie currently in early development.
