Daniels Is Comey Gleeson Is Trump In Loyalty

Jeff Daniels is set to star as former FBI Director James Comey and Brendan Gleeson will play U.S. President Donald Trump in a four-hour event miniseries based on Comey’s novel “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership” for CBS Studios.

Comey was dismissed from his job at the FBI role in May 2017 after President Trump took objection to Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hilary Clinton’s emails. Comey learned of his dismissal from TV news reports that played in the background in the middle of his speech to agents at a Los Angeles field office.

In addition, Michael Kelly (“House of Cards”) will play acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, while Tony-winner Jennifer Ehle will play Patrice Comey. Trump is a major figure in the mini-series with “Captain Phillips” screenwriter Billy Ray adapting the book and directing the still as-yet-untitled project.

Alex Kurtzman, Shane Salerno and Heather Kadin will executive produce with filming to begin in November. It’s not yet been determined if this will air on Showtime, CBS Access or both.
