Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks (“The Notebook,” “Dear John”), the story follows a Marine who returns to North Carolina having survived three tours of duty in Iraq.
He attributes his good luck to a photo he has always carried with him, a photo of a woman he’s never met. Now that he’s returned, he sets out to meet her.
There’s some outright confusion here in regards to who exactly is in charge of this film which at last report kicks off filming in May. Last year Doug McGrath (“Infamous,” “Nicholas Nickleby”) signed on to both pen and direct the adaptation, and Vachon’s tweet mentions specifically “Doug McGrath’s script reading”.
Yet a week ago it was reported that Scott Hicks (“Shine”) was in negotiations to direct using a script by Will Fetters. Vachon’s tweets are no longer visible on her account either, making it all the more baffling.
