With “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” now wrapped, star Daniel Radcliffe has selected his first post-Potter feature – a new film adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s classic 1929 novel “All Quiet on the Western Front” reports BBC News.
Radcliffe will play Paul Baumer, a young German infantryman fighting in the trenches of France during World War I. Lew Ayres played the role in Lewis Milestone’s 1930 film adaptation which won the Best Picture Oscar that year.
Radcliffe previously portrayed a World War I soldier in 2007 TV drama “My Boy Jack”. Filming kicks off in Spring 2012 once Radcliffe finished his Broadway run of “How to Succeed Without Really Trying”. Ian Stokell will produce.
