Daniel Dae Kim Joins The “Hellboy” Reboot

After Ed Skrein exited the role, the upcoming “Hellboy” has now found a more appropriate actor to take on the role of Major Ben Daimio.

Former “Hawaii Five-0” and “Lost” regular Daniel Dae Kim is in talks for the part of the Japanese-American character, a rugged military member of the B.P.R.D. who can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain.

British actor Skrein scored the role last month, but after a backlash on social media he stepped down in a move that’s been celebrated for its push back against Hollywood whitewashing.

Kim, a Korean-American actor, is no stranger to dealing with the issue and made headlines earlier this year for quitting “Hawaii Five-0” over an issue of unequal pay with his white male co-stars.

David Harbour, Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich co-star in the new “Hellboy” which Neil Marshall is directing.
