One large question mark in regards to the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” deals with actor Daniel Bruhl who plays the villain Baron Zemo. The character’s role in the upcoming dust-up between two sides of competing heroes is a large unknown at this point, and there have been rumors he’ll be popping up in further Marvel films down the track.
Out doing promotion for his role in this week’s Bradley Cooper chef comedy “Burnt,” the talented and well-regarded actor first confimed to Business Insider that his character “does not wear the mask,” the iconic mouthless ribbed purple hood that he dons in the comics.
In fact, Bruhl says his version is only “loosely connected” to the comics version an “different than what you’d think”. He adds: “That’s what I like about the Marvel guys. Some of the characters and things they’re dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think.” As for his potential return down the line, Bruhl says: “there’s a possibility… that’s the way it’s written.”
The quotes come as the comic version of “Captain America” has come under fire from the hosts of Fox & Friends due to the inclusion of a new villain, an anti-immigration American named The Supreme Serpent, and paint it as an “attack against conservativism”.
“Captain America: Civil War” opens in cinemas May 6th 2016.
