Actor-turned-filmmaker Charles Dance (“Last Action Hero,” “Gosford Park”) has set his second project – an adaptation of Alice Thomas-Ellis’ novel “The Inn at the Edge of the World” says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story follows a group of unrelated people who share a common desire to escape the enforced jollity of Christmas and venture to a remote Scottish island.
Michael Gambon, who co-starred with Dance in the Sacha Baron Cohen movie “Ali G Indahouse”, leads a cast which includes Stephen Fry and Penelope Wilton.
Like his first film, 2004’s “Ladies in Lavender”, Dance adapted the script and won’t appear on screen in the film.
Jane Spencer-Prior and Lamia Nayeb-St. Hilaire will produce. Shooting will take place on location in Scotland starting in May.
