Dan Stevens (“The Guest,” “Legion”) is in negotiations to star in “The Raid” director Gareth Evans’ new period revenge thriller “Apostle” for XYZ Films, Severn Screen and One More One Productions.
Evans is writing and directing the film which follows a man who travels to a remote island and attempts to rescue his sister after she’s kidnapped by a religious cult.
The group demands a ransom for the sister’s return, undermining the man’s resolve to rescue her. Shooting aims to kick off in March, around the time both FX’s “Legion” and Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” launch with him starring.
The project is also only Evans’ fourth film following “Merantau” and both “The Raid” movies which have been critical favorites.
