Dakota Fanning is negotiating to play lead singer Cheri Currie in ’70s all-girl band biopic “The Runaways” reports Variety
15-year-old Fanning is the same age Currie was when she made her debut with the Runaways as the lead singer who belted out hard-edged tunes like “Cherry Bomb.”
Currie became caught up in drugs and a hard-partying lifestyle. “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart has already signed to play member Joan Jett who went on to a famous solo career.
Floria Sigismondi penned and directs the film which begins production in late spring. Bill Pohlad along with John and Art Linson are producing.
