“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley is turning her sights on another popular series, this time the multiple Carnegie Medal-nominated young adult literary trilogy “Chaos Walking” for Lionsgate.
Patrick Ness penned the 2008 first novel, “Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go,” which is set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts.
The story focuses on the only boy in a town of men. He makes a startling discovery that forces him to flee with only his dog in hand. As the townspeople are in pursuit, the duo stumbles upon a strange and silent girl. Ultimately the boy must unlearn everything he knows in order to figure out who he truly is.
Doug Liman is signed on as director, Jamie Linden penned the most recent script and Allison Shearmur and Doug Davison are producing. Production is slated to begin next year.
Ridley’s casting has been confirmed by Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer during an earnings call this week.
