Willem Dafoe will join Edward Norton in the thriller “Motherless Brooklyn” based on the National Book Critics Circle Award winning novel by Jonathan Lethem.
Set in 1954, the story follows Lionel Essrog (Norton), who has Tourette syndrome and works as a private eye at a makeshift detective agency.
His current case involves a young woman protesting against a powerful developer, who designs neighborhoods as slums so his people can buy up property. Dafoe will play the developer’s brother.
Norton is attached to direct from his own script and produce through his Class 5 Films. William Migliore, Stuart Blumberg, Gigi Pritzker and Rachel Shane will also produce.
