“Empire” star Taraji P. Henson has joined the cast of the upcoming “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” from Disney Animation.
The news was revealed at the D23 convention this weekend at Anaheim where Henson appeared on stage and revealed she played the character ‘Yesss’ who is dubbed an expert on the viral parts of the internet and is actually an algorithm for a site called Buzzaholic.
John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman return as Ralph and Vanellope who head out onto the Internet to find a spare part to fix Sugar Rush after it breaks.
A clip was shown in which Vanellope meets with all of the Disney princesses who are mixing with “Star Wars” characters and apparently a bunch of them bicker with each other. It even boasts a scene in which Cinderella smashes off part of her glass slipper to use like a broken bottle in a bar fight.
Many actresses who’ve voiced the ‘princess’ roles over the years appear not just in film but most showed up on stage including Kristen Bell (“Frozen”), Auli’i Cravalho (“Moana”), Jodi Benson (“The Little Mermaid”), Irene Bedard (“Pocahontas”), Paige O’Hara (“Beauty and the Beast”), Linda Larkin (“Aladdin”), Anika Noni Rose (“The Princess and the Frog”), Mandy Moore (“Tangled”) and Kelly MacDonald (“Brave”). Ming Na Wen (“Mulan”) and Idina Menzel (“Frozen”) are also in the film but didn’t turn up on stage.
Rich Moore and Phil Johnson are directing the sequel which opens November 21st 2018. Check out a brief glimpse of footage from the film that is on display on the floor of the convention:
