The CW’s mid-season series “Riverdale” has scored an early second season renewal midway through its first season.
The reimagining of characters from the popular Archie Comics marks the first freshman success for the network this season following high profile fizzers “No Tomorrow” and “Frequency”.
“Riverdale” is averaging a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and two million viewers in Live+7 ratings. A CW rep also cites above average streaming.
The show joins seven other series already set to return for the 2017-18 season – the four DC Comics inspired shows along with “Supernatural,” “Crazy Ex Girlfriend” and “Jane the Virgin”. The fates of “The 100,” “iZombie,” “The Originals” and “Reign” remains undetermined at this point.
