The CW has released a new comic book-esque poster for the upcoming Arrow-verse crossover event “Elseworlds”. The five superheroes appearing in the crossover – Green Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Superman and Batwoman – are all here along with the two villains of the piece Dr. John Deegan and Monitor.
Comic book artist Amy Reeder designed the poster for the three-episode event which heads to Gotham City and will mark Ruby Rose’s debut as Kate Kane/Batwoman. Further details about the story have come to light with Deegan (Jeremy Davies) being able to re-write reality in a way that sees Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry (Grant Gustin) swapping places – with only the pair and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) realising it.
Speaking with EW, Gustin says it’s a life-swap story as opposed to a body-swap one (ala “Freaky Friday”) so don’t expect out of character acting:
“You’re not going to see me playing Oliver Queen’s mannerisms, or Stephen playing Barry’s mannerisms. It’s more being aware that for some reason we’ve switched lives and destinies. It’s more the fun of the situational comedy that we keep finding ourselves in, and less us having a complete role reversal. We get to see Stephen do some of the more goofy speed stuff I have to do on a regular basis, and I get some actual combat as Green Arrow. So, we just see different colors for each of us.”
The crossover event also stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Bob Frazer as Roger Hayden/Psycho Pirate, LaMonica Garrett as Monitor and Cassandra Jean Amell as Nora Fries.
It begins with “The Flash” on Sunday, December 9th followed by “Arrow” on Monday, December 10th and “Supergirl” on Tuesday, December 11th.
