ZeptoLab and Blockade Entertainment are developing “Om Nom,” an animated feature based on the popular mobile game “Cut the Rope” with plans to get it into cinemas by next year.
The story follows 13-year old Evan, a boy who opens a secret package containing a living scientific experiment – with mischievous intentions. Known only as Om Nom, this adorable creature has an insatiable appetite for everything sugary.
Now free to roam, Om Nom begins to wreak havoc upon this formerly quiet town, and Evan, with his little sister Jordan, must follow him on an epic adventure while avoiding various others who are looking to capture Om Nom for themselves.
The “Cut the Rope” games, first launched in 2010, have been downloaded over 700 million times to date. The games have previously been adapted into a short-form animated web series which has garnered over 600 million views.
No director, writer, or stars are attached yet. Brad Foxhoven and David Wohl will produce. Here’s the film’s official poster:
