The next film off the Marvel Studios cab rank is November’s “Doctor Strange” which brings Benedict Cumberbatch into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a surgeon turned sorcerer.
With production on “Avengers: Infinity War” and a fourth “Avengers” film gearing up to start towards year’s end, there’s the obvious question of whether Doctor Strange will be involved. It is widely expected, but the actor has confirmed to Empire (via Express) that he’ll take part in the ensemble.
Cumberbatch is slated to make his way to Atlanta near the end of the year to begin the nine month shoot for which he’ll likely only be involved in a part of. He tells the mag there’s a “logistical challenge” of aligning his schedule with those of the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.
He adds: “To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.” The Russo brothers are expected to shoot the films out of order to depending upon actor availability.
So far there’s been no indications in any of the clips or photos released from “Doctor Strange” as to how his solo film connects to the larger MCU. Two such new photos are out today and can be seen below, “Doctor Strange” opens in cinemas on November 4th.
