Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron is reportedly lending a hand to director Andy Serkis for his upcoming film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”.
Developed at the same time as Disney Pictures’ currently playing “The Jungle Book” film, this project will mark Serkis’ directorial debut and is said to be a much darker affair. While the Disney film mixed a live action kid with completely CG animals and environments, the Warners film will be more like the “Planet of the Apes” films with mo-cap animals interacting with live-action humans and elements.
Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jack Reynor and Tom Hollander play the mo-cap creatures while Freida Pinto, Matthew Rhys and Rohan Chand take on the live-action elements.
Cuaron will give notes on the project which has dropped the title “Jungle Book: Origins” and is now going by “Jungle Book”. It is slated to hit cinemas on October 19th 2018.
