With “Edge of Tomorrow” scoring a lot of acclaim last year and “Mena” completed and being readied for a January release, actor Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman look to be re-teaming for a third time on Liman’s long-gestating sci-fi feature “Luna Park”.
Cruise is reportedly joining Liman to develop the action film with an eye to star in it, though things are still early in the process so it will depend upon how the project’s script comes together.
The plot revolves around a group of renegade employees who venture to the moon to steal an energy source. It’s not clear if Skydance Pictures or Paramount Pictures will still be involved like they were with earlier incarnations of the film.
Chris Evans and Andrew Garfield were circling the lead roles back in 2011 when the project was green lit. At the time co-financier Skydance bailed on the project due to budgetary reasons.
Cruise is prepping ahead of filming the “Jack Reacher” sequel in November and a sixth “Mission: Impossible” film next year.
