New set photos from the British press have shown Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly, the stars of the upcoming “Top Gun 2: Maverick,” recreating the famous motorcycle scene from the original 1986 feature.
Thirty-two years later Cruise has slapped on the bomber jacket and aviators, dusted off the Kawasaki Ninja H2 and is taking Connelly’s potential romantic interest for a ride. It certainly evokes the stills and poster art for the original which co-starred Cruise and Kelly McGillis.
Cruise’s Lt. Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell is now a captain in the new film while Connelly is a single mother who runs a local bar near the Navy base where Maverick works.
Christopher McQuarrie is reuniting with Cruise to work on the script for the sequel which is currently filming under the helm of Joseph Kosinski. Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Glen Powell, Manny Jacinto, Lewis Pullman, and Thomasin McKenzie co-star in the film which opens June 26th 2020.
