Crowe, Kidman Sought For “Boy Erased”

Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman are being courted to take supporting roles in Joel Edgerton’s provocative drama feature “Boy Erased” with the likes of Annapurna, Netflix, Amazon and Focus all reportedly in contention to land the project.

“Manchester by the Sea” breakout star Lucas Hedges leads the film based on the memoir by Garrard Conley. Conley was a Baptist pastor’s son in and conservative community and his memoir shows a harrowing account of his time as Love in Action, an entity that attempts to deprogram LGBT people and ‘cure homosexuality’.

Edgerton will take a supporting role as the man who runs the program. The Aussie thesp has also scripted, and will both produce and direct the feature which will also be produced by Kerry Roberts and Steve Golin. Filming aims to begin this Fall.
