With “Creed” exceeding both critical and box-office expectations over the Thanksgiving holiday, it’s little surprise that this side-quel to the “Rocky” franchise may get an inevitable sequel.
One person who would be up for that idea is Adonis Creed himself. Speaking with the Associated Press, actor Michael B. Jordan says he’d be game to return:
“A character so rich as this, and the world he’s in, I want to see what happens to him next and what he does. Especially the way it ends off, it’s pretty cool. I think with success and time and circumstances, it would be exciting to come back and work with (co-stars) Sly (Stallone) and Tessa (Thompson) again.”
“Creed” has pulled in around $42.6 million over the five day weekend – with a tight budget of just $35 million and great holding numbers day-to-day, it’ll end up a profitable film for a studio (Warners) in bad need of a hit.
Whether anyone else, such as Stallone or director Ryan Coogler would return, is unclear at this point and the studio has not yet made any announcements.
