Speculation is still continuing about who could next take on the role of James Bond since Daniel Craig has made it fairly clear in interviews he’s done with the character.
Callum McDougall, executive producer on all the Craig-era Bond films, appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today program (via Deadline this week and was asked about the chances of Craig returning to the role. He says:
“I wish I knew…We love Daniel. We would love Daniel to return as Bond. Without any question he is absolutely [producers] Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli’s first choice. I know they’re hoping for him to come back.”
Craig was reportedly contracted for one more film, though that no longer seemed to be the case judging by some comments made by both him and Wilson in the past. Craig has numerous other projects lined up, but with the next Bond not due to begin filming until the very end of next year, there’s no rush at this point for him to make a decision.
