Last week it was confirmed that Warner Bros. Pictures had begun additional filming on David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” with the various actors spotted in Los Angeles doing reshoots. A quick follow-up report though indicated that the reshoots were said to involve adding more humor to the film as all of it was used up in that first theatrical trailer released in January.
Now, one of the film’s stars, Jai Courtney, has confirmed to ET that reshoots are in fact happening, but they aren’t necessarily adding only humor:
“I think there’s plenty of that in it. I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier. There’s some additional action stuff we’ve been doing which is pretty dope. We’re just kind of adding, in that sense. Don’t believe everything you read.”
One Twitter user (via Movieweb) appears to have offered new information on the reshoots, saying three weeks of filming are taking place with most of it on a soundstage. A further two days took place on location in downtown Los Angeles, some of it at the Cicada Club.
The source also claims Warners has essentially ‘made’ Ayer do these reshoots because “the movie was too dark”. “Suicide Squad” is still targeting an August 5th release.
