Sung Kang’s character Han Seoul-Oh in the “Fast and Furious” franchise was something of a fan-favorite across several films. In fact, his death in his first outing in ‘Tokyo Drift’ is what caused series writer/producer Chris Morgan to play with the franchise’s timeline so that he could be incorporated back in.
That loop was then closed at the end of the sixth film, leaving Kang out of “Furious 7”. But does that mean the character really is gone for good? Morgan was asked by Slashfilm if we’d see Han return in some way:
“That’s funny because I’ve actually been thinking about that a lot. So it’s interesting that you and I are on the same wavelength there. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out. I love Sung – he’s one of my favorite people on the planet.”
The ‘Fast’ franchise has already resurrected one of its main characters – namely Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty. Morgan bringing Han back in some way, most likely in a flashback, is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. The new “The Fate of the Furious” opens in cinemas next week.
