Though “IT” director Andres Muschetti remains the apparent frontrunner, a new report indicates that Argentinian filmmaker Damian Szifron (“Wild Tales”) is also in the running to direct “Justice League Dark” for Warner Bros. Pictures & DC Comics.
Jeff Sneider on Meet the Movie Press reported his candidacy for the job which was vacated last week by the previously attached Doug Liman who exited due to scheduling conflicts. This would mark the second Hollywood film Szifron has been linked to, as back in 2015 he was tipped to pen “The Six Billion Dollar Man” for TWC Dimension.
The story reportedly begins with a series of ancient tomes being stolen by a madman hell-bent on humanity’s end. Due to this, occult detective John Constantine seeks out a group of heroes that specialises in the mystic and arcane in order to save the world including Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon and potentially Madama Xanadu.
Michael Gilio is writing the script for the project which Scott Rudin producing. No production timetable has yet been set.
