Many have been wondering why CBS has yet to discuss the fate of its superhero series “Supergirl,” turns out there may be a good reason for that.
The Wrap reports that CBS would like to renew the show, but the three million per episode it costs is too much for the network. The show started out strong but its ratings have slid a bit in the interim, and so producer Warner Bros. and CBS are said to be arguing about money.
The trade says the two sides could come to a compromise and put the show on The CW, the channel they own together and the home of the rest of the Greg Berlanti-produced DC small screen universe. To do that though would require a budget cut and a potential shift of shooting location.
More details are expected to be forthcoming at CBS’ network upfronts next week.
