Cottillard Joins “Assassin’s Creed” Film

Marion Cotillard is set to join the cast of Ubisoft and New Regency’s upcoming film adaptation of the video game series “Assassin’s Creed”.

Michael Fassbender will play two characters – in the present day he’s Michael Lynch, in the past he’s an assassin named Aguilar de Agarorobo during the time of the Spanish Inquisition.

Cotillard role will be that of a female character named Lara who provides assistance to Fassbender’s present day character. Cotillard’s character is expected to be used in multiple movies.

The Justin Kurzel-directed film ties back into the storyline of “Assassin’s Creed II” with Tomas de Torquemada serving as the past villain and Abstergo CEO Alan Rikkan serving as the present day one.

The project marks a kind of reunion of the three key talents on the upcoming adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” which Kurzel, Fassbender and Cotillard filmed last year.

Michael Leslie, Scott Frank, Bill Collage and Adam Cooper penned the script and filming is slated to shoot this Fall ahead of a December 21st 2016 release.
