Costner Considers Jack Ryan & Luc Besson

Kevin Costner is being courted for key roles in two upcoming projects reports Deadline.

The first is the co-leading role in the Kenneth Branagh-directed Jack Ryan film starring Chris Pine. Costner’s character serves as Ryan’s mentor who recruits him and shows him the ropes. He’s a new creation but one akin to the part of Admiral Greer which James Earl Jones played in the first three Jack Ryan films.

The other is the Luc Besson-produced low-cost French-set drama “Three Days to Kill” at Europacorp. Costner has been offered the role of Ethan Renner, a dying government assassin determined to reconcile with his daughter, while taking on one final mission.

McG is tipped to direct that project which Relativity Media will distribute in North America. Costner plays Kal-El’s human father Jonathan Kent in the upcoming Superman reboot “Man of Steel” at Warners.
