Dominic Cooper, Thandie Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor are all set to star in an adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s bestselling novel “Half of a Yellow Sun” for BFI reports Screen Daily.
This follows several characters including a university professor (Ejiofor) and his girlfriend (Newton), their houseboy along with several more and sets it against the backdrop of the Nigerian-Biafran War in the late 60’s when southern Nigeria attempted to secede and form their own country.
Cooper would play British ex-pat studying in Nigeria. Nigerian playwright Biyi Bandele is making his directorial debut on the film which Andrea Calderwood and Gail Egan are producing. Shooting kicks off in March.
