Cooper, Mackie To Join Vamp-Hunting “Lincoln”

Anthony Mackie is in talks and Dominic Cooper is in final talks to co-star in “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” for 20th Century Fox reports Variety and Deadline.

The story revolves around the idea that vampires were the source of the conflict in the Civil War and after his mother’s death, a young Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) sets out on a quest to rid the world of the undead.

Mackie will play the role of Will, Lincoln’s best friend who helps him out in the slaying. Cooper will play Lincoln’s mentor Henry, the mysterious ageless guy who teaches Abe to kill bloodsuckers. Joaquin Phoenix had been in talks for the role of Henry.

Bekmambetov directs from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith who penned the novel on which this is based. Tim Burton and Jim Lemley are producing.

Shooting kicks off shortly in Louisiana, and the film is currently scheduled to open June 22nd 2012.
