“Fruitvale Station” and “Creed” director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan are set to reunite for a fourth time on “Wrong Answer” at New Regency and Plan B.
Based on Rachel Aviv’s 2014 New Yorker article, the true story tale follows how Atlanta high school educators participated in an intricate, systemic standardized-test cheating scandal as part of the No Child Left Behind program. Eleven educators were ultimately convicted of racketeering.
Jordan plays Damany Lewis, a Parks Middle School math teacher who got caught up in the scandal as the students at the school were severely underprivileged and, despite the best efforts of Lewis and other teachers, the kids were not making the grades necessary to keep the school from being shuttered.
“Black Panther” comic writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will pen the script while Coogler, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Arnon Milchan will produce. Jordan also has a role in Coogler’s “Black Panther” adaptation which opens in February.
