“Contagion” scribe Scott Z. Burns has been set to work on Fox’s sequel to “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” at Chernin Entertainment says Heat Vision.
The film will continue the action from last year’s critical and commercial hit. With human society collapsing after a viral outbreak and the highly intelligent simians now free, the story will follow the apes on their path to emerge as society’s new rulers.
Both actor Andy Serkis, who played the lead ape Caesar, and director Rupert Wyatt are set to return. Burns is either re-writing or ignoring the work by previously attached scribes Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.
